Warehouse

STIHL Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ANDREAS STIHL AG & Co. KG in Germany, is a leader in the distribution of chain saws and handheld outdoor power equipment in Canada.  We have an immediate opening at our London head office for a full-time

Warehouse Supervisor.  

The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Supervise a department of 19 Materials Handlers
  • Creation of daily work schedules to ensure adequate coverage in all areas of warehouse
  • Train new staff on day to day responsibilities as well as certifying staff on forklifts and fall arrest
  • Participate in recruitment of all warehouse personnel
  • Work with all shipping supply companies ensuring best pricing is obtained
  • Schedule and arrange repairs on warehouse equipment, racking and conveyors
  • Ensure all PM’s and safety inspections are performed on forklifts ensuring ministry guidelines are met
  • Responsible for forklift and working at heights training for all staff
  • Supervision of all transportation of dangerous goods from London Ontario
  • Responsible for the procurement of all shipping supplies for 3 warehouses (London, Moncton & Edmonton)
  • Responsible for overall day to day operations of the Warehouse including various reporting, monitoring of wave locations, ensuring all orders are completed within company cut off times and organization and cleanliness of Warehouse

Skills & Qualifications include:

  • Five plus years’ experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with various departments and develop collaborative relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a busy environment
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and versatility are essential
  • Excellent knowledge with processes relating to transportation of dangerous goods (TDG) with  experience on lithium ion battery shipments
  • Experienced forklift operator a must
  • Train the Trainer certificates in forklift certification and fall arrest/working at heights
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of outdoor power equipment an asset
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Materials Handler – London

We require a driven individual who is dedicated to outstanding customer service.  As part of our warehouse team, you will be responsible for picking and shipping orders in a fast-paced environment. 

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Picking orders for Shipment to our Dealer Network using push cart, walkie or forklift
  • Stock parts in various locations throughout the warehouse
  • Prepare receiving dock to receive incoming orders and match to purchase orders
  • Ensure safe and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries.  Report any count discrepancies and/or product damage  to Warehouse Supervisor
  • Inventory counts – assist with monthly cycle counts of  all units each  month
  • Maintenance of lift trucks and/or walkies - ensure trucks are plugged in with batteries charging  as required and hours recorded
  • Miscellaneous duties as required; helping on the mezzanine, relocating products, making chain, inventory counts, packing at end of line, making boxes, cleanup of warehouse on a daily basis, emptying garbage, sweeping, etc.

Qualifications & Skills include:

  • Attention to detail very  important
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to meet deadlines in a busy environment
  • Excellent time management skills are required
  • Forklift experience would be an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, accuracy and versatility are essential
  • High School Diploma is required, and must be presented at interview
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours is required
  • Ability to reach up, bend down and lift 50 lbs. is required
  • Ability to come to work every day with an excellent attendance record

Purchasing

The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Supervise a department of 5 including Spare Parts & Accessories Planner, Purchasing Coordinator, Transportation Coordinator, Inventory Coordinator and Inventory Clerk
  • Manage and foster in excess of 200 vendor  relationships
  • Procurement of intercompany and third-party goods utilizing a custom software system.  Tasks include: forecast regeneration, communication with production facilities, scheduling of jobs, fine tuning & maintenance and demand planning for various promotions
  • Planning of all inventory requirements for Canada
  • Oversee inventory item Masterfile transactions including weighted average cost and related inventory adjustments, set-up of new items and purchase price updates
  • Ensure that the integrity of inventory valuation is maintained for all warehouse locations
  • Ensure Corporate goals regarding fill rates and service levels are achieved and maintained
  • Oversee the scheduling of inventory  to be transferred  between 3 distribution centers
  • Negotiation of freight contracts
  • Responsible for pricing negotiations and new product sourcing
  • Co-ordination of all Purchasing Department activities including supervision of team members to ensure effective results

Skills & Qualifications include:

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • Certified Purchasing Management (CPM)  Designation or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)  Designation preferred
  • Five plus years’ experience in a Purchasing role
  • Ability to negotiate with vendors
  • A minimum of five years supervisory experience
  • Exceptional skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Detail- oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with various departments and develop collaborative relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a busy environment
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
