The ORIGINAL Extreme Sport!

The STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series is established worldwide in more than 24 countries as the major league of logger sports, with a massive global fan-base following competitive events live and on TV. The sport originated in Canada, the USA and New Zealand where lumberjacks held local competitions to determine the best of their profession. Over time these tests of strength and skill evolved to a professional level and in 1985 the first STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series Championships were held in the USA.

Each year STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Canada celebrates two national championships:

The Canadian Championship consists of the top Pro, Women and Rookie athletes from across the country. Each athlete competes in a select number of disciplines one at a time; the underhand chop, standing block chop, springboard, stock saw, single buck and hot saw. The athletes with the best times in their division are crowned the Canadian Champion. We also select a Canadian Team who will represent the country at the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship in the fall along with the winner of the Pro Canadian Championship. The winner of the Rookie Canadian Championship will compete at the World Rookie Championship the following spring.

The Canadian Trophy is a national championship that consists of the top athletes from our Canadian Championship Pro division. Each athlete competes in 4 disciplines; stock saw, underhand chop, single buck and standing block chop BACK TO BACK. There are no breaks. The winner goes on to compete the following spring at the World Trophy Championship.

The Canadian Tour ends in the fall with the production and broadcast of a TV series that is broadcasted nationally on TSN with footage from the Canadian Championship, Canadian Trophy, associated World Championships, interviews and behind the scenes footage with Team Canada.
